Fathers are the protectors of their families. In their very busy lifestyles, the role of looking after the welfare of the children often falls on the mothers and other care givers like grandparents and maids. It is hoped that fathers would step up and ensure that their wives and children are living in a safe and healthy environment. When fathers take an active role in protecting their families, we can hope that the atrocities committed against the innocent, and more so against those with learning disabilities, would be reduced in Penang and in society at large.
Crime is not restricted to any race, religion or age group. Join us, people from all walks of life, race and religion, as we take part in this walkathon to raise awareness of the important roles fathers play as Crimebusters or protectors of the family.
Participation is by registration. Only fathers need to register for a fee of RM10. Family members walk for free! A T-shirt will be given to fathers upon registration payment. To add to the fun, why not bring a prop to identify yourself with a mother’s/wife’s role, e.g., apron, ladle, pots and pans or you could try walking in a pair of her shoes!
There will also be a banner competition. Design a banner with these words as the theme: Crimebuster: Together we fight crime or Bersama membanteras jenayah. Prizes will be given to the top three banners based on creativity and originality.
All registration fees collected will be donated to the Penang Down Syndrome Association as they raise funds to set up and run a community based centre for the use of its members.
Come let us walk in solidarity with fathers to reduce crime committed against families.
