Topic: Educational opportunities for children and adults with Down Syndrome

Remarks: This talk is organised by the Penang Down Syndrome Support Group to inform parents about the possibilities of education for children with Down Syndrome of all ages. Currently there are 2 speakers scheduled: 1. Mr. Benedict Martin will deliver a talk on the Topic: "What next after school". He has extensive knowledge in special education programs. 2. En. Aziz bin Hashim (PJK) from the Unit Pendidikan Khas, Jabatan Pendidikan Pulau Pinang who will cover these topics:
- Education Curriculum for Special Children
- What schools are readily available
- Guidelines on securing entry into these schools
En. Azis is experienced in the field of special education since 1987. He holds a degree from the University of Northern Illinois (USA) in audiology and speech and language pathology. Since 1996 he has been heading the Special Education Unit of the Penang Education Department.
