The Gleneagles Medical Centre Penang organises on the 18th April, 1999 a Community Service Programme with the Theme:

"A Tribute to Special Children"

It is held in the Medical Centre and its purpose is to:

1. Have fun

2. Educate the public about Special Children

3. Raise funds, among others for the Penang Down Syndrome Support Group

Children have to register to participate for the various events. This registration has closed already for the general public, but in the case of Children with Down Syndrome they can still register even on the actual day. They also can register for an agegroup which they feel most comfortable in, even it is outside the advertised age-range of that event.

There are three events (Art Competitions) for children:

a) Age 4-6 using crayons to draw about Healthy foods
b) Age 7-9 using mixed medium drawing about My Family
c) Age 10-12 using watercolor to create painting about My World

9:20 a.m.        Presentation on Down Syndrome Parent's Support Group by Dr. Sim Joo Seng
                       Presentation of Donation to Down Syndrome Foundation by Dato' Robert Phang

9:30a.m.         Puppet Show by Uncle George Chan

9:45a.m.         Dance Presentation by Priscilla Ballet Academy

10:10a.m.        Chinese Painting Demo by Mr. Sim See San

10:20a.m.        Entertainment by Koko Clown

10:30a.m.        Morning Tea Reception

11:00a.m.        Art Competition

11:45a.m.        Quiz

12:00 noon      Tour of Children's Ward
